New International Students Welcoming Programme (NISWP) SEM 2 (2020)

SERDANG, 29 February 2020. Putra International Centre (iPUTRA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has conducted an orientation program which is commonly publicised as New International Students Welcoming Programme (NISWP) for the mobility students, the second semester 2019/2020 graduates and postgraduates at Dewan Besar Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah UPM. The objective of NISWP is to assemble the internationals nationwide with UPM Buddies and UPM administrative officials. This program serves to provide information and regulations regarding visa and pass, safety, accommodation, transportation and facilities offered in UPM and the related particulars within the Klang Valley for their guidance apart from being exposed to the wondrous cultural variety present in Malaysia.

NISWP has been officiated by the Director of iPUTRA, Dr. Zainal Abidin Talib. He congratulated the selected non-local students that manage to pursue their education in Malaysia and he is hopeful that the students would obtain meaningful remarks during their stay in the country.

“UPM is delighted to be receiving international students and we hope for a greater journey waiting upon you prior to experiencing the cultural diversity and uniqueness in Malaysia,” he said.

The program was initiated with an enticing opening performance from Persatuan Seni Silat Lincah Malaysia representing the Seri Serdang branch followed by a briefing on visa and pass given by the Chief of Visa and Pass Section, Mr. Abdul Razif Abdul Razak. A talk on UPM safety and security regulation was also informed by ASP/BP Ibrahim Hassan, representing UPM Security Division followed by a sharing session from Puan Fairuz Muchtar Bawaze’er, the Division Chief of iPUTRA who has also exposed the students on interesting facts of the university, the disparate culture of the locals and the festivals celebrated in Malaysia. Tuan. Hj. Rohdi Wah was also invited to provide updates on the academic rules and regulations that the graduate students are obliged to abide. The event was then resumed with an ice breaking session and activities conducted by the Buddies. There were about approximately 300 attendees who received souvenirs which include a t-shirt, tote bag and a cap from iPUTRA. NISWP was generally organised to ensure international students from countries all around the world are well informed on important details during their studies in UPM, Malaysia in order to allow the Putra Experience encounters a success.
