NEW APPLICATION (STUDENT PASS)

The student pass is a document issued by the Malaysian immigration department to a non-citizen to reside Malaysia for more than one (1) month, for educational purpose only. The student pass appears in the form of the sticker in the passport.

Under the education Malaysia global service (EMGS)’s guidelines, there are FIVE (5) types of New Applications for student pass:

i) First Application/ Existing student:

Student who is still at his/her home country, and needs to apply for VAL to enter Malaysia. You should not apply for VAL more than 4 months, before you want to enter Malaysia because the VAL only valid  for 6 months.

* The fees of EMGS will be determined during your online application
* The fees may varied according to the country.
* You are required to upload full set of passport pages to EMGS online application.

Putra International shall not be liable for the approval of student VAL. Approval is subject to the authority of The Immigration Department of Malaysia.*

Students who come to Malaysia with the VAL (Visa Approval Letter), are required to submit his/her passport to the Putra International, 14 days before the expiry of Social Pass purposely convert to Student Pass with the following documents:

WHAT NOT TO DO

  • To submit the passport to near expiry date of the Single Entry Visa (SEV) or the SEV date has expired.

 

ii) Progression:     

  • Student who has completed his / her degree (e.g Master Programme), and subsequently wants to further study to the next level (e.g PhD)

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • For new students, passport (new & old) must be stamped with a valid pass or visa.
  • ONLY 1st and 2nd Special Pass is accepted for all new progression student application.
  • For new students with 3rd Special Pass, it is required to apply for VDR.
  • For new student Overstay under previous college, required to apply VDR.

 

iii) Variation Intra-UPM:

  • UPM’s student who wishes to change programme within UPM, within same level of study (maximum two times only).

 

iv) Variation Inter Institution:

  • New student from other institution who wishes to enrol with UPM, within same level of   study.

 

v) Conversion:

  • Students who is granted by Senate to convert his/her Masters with Thesis to a PhD degree programme
