i-PUTRA Extends A Warm Welcome to International Mobility Students Through the New International Student Welcoming Program (NISWP), Semester 1 2023/2024

In a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity and international collaboration, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organized the New International Student Welcoming Program on the 2nd of October 2023. The program welcomed 83 mobility students from various corners of the globe, representing countries such as Japan, China, Thailand, Germany, France, Indonesia, and more. This diverse assembly exemplified the rich tapestry of cultures that defines UPM's international community.

At its core, this program aimed to empower incoming students with the vital information and resources needed for a successful semester exchange. The day commenced with a heartfelt welcome from the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and International at UPM. The gathering, encapsulated in a group photograph, radiated the spirit of camaraderie and unity that epitomizes the institution.

A highlight of the program was an engaging ice-breaking session, facilitated by the UPM Buddies Association. This interactive activity provided a platform for students to connect and forge friendships that promise to accompany them throughout their academic journey at UPM.

Following this spirited ice-breaking session, a series of informative sessions unfolded. Representatives from key departments and associations presented invaluable insights. This included informative presentations from the PUTRA International Centre, discussions on visas and passes, a session with the Auxiliary Police Section, a briefing from the UPM Library, insights from the University Health Centre, a presentation by the UPM International Students Association, and a follow-up session with the UPM Buddies Association.

The program, packed with enriching interactions and essential information, concluded around 4 PM. Not only did it mark the commencement of an exciting academic journey for the mobility students, but it also underscored UPM's unwavering commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for its international community.
