Serdang, Malaysia – A delegation from Jinan University, China (JNU) paid a courtesy visit to the PUTRA International Centre (i-PUTRA) on the 21st of December 2023. The delegation is headed by Prof. Ms. Hong An, Vice President of JNU.

The main purpose of the visit is to discuss bilateral cooperation on student and faculty exchange, as well as double degree for master's and doctoral programs. On top of that to discuss the development of JNU-UPM Joint Laboratory on Plant Oil Processing and Safety with the Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), UPM.

To kick-start, the delegation is warmly welcomed by the Director of i-PUTRA, Professor Dr. Suhaimi Ab Rahman and followed by a presentation on UPM. The meeting were also attended by Professor Ts. Dr. Goh Yong Meng, Deputy Director of Research Management Centre (RMC); Associate Prof. Dr. Rosliza Abdul Manaf, Deputy Dean (Academic of Medicine) Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; and Professor Dr. Tan Chin Ping, Faculty of Food Science and Technology. 

During the meeting, both parties engaged in a dynamic discussion, especially on the JNU-UPM Joint Laboratory on Plant Oil Processing and Safety. For information, the Joint Laboratory Program is in the process of applying for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) International Joint Laboratory under the Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST), China. JNU also expressed its aspiration to establish an International Collaboration Programme (ICP) with UPM.

The program concluded at 11:30 a.m. UPM and JNU expressed a strong commitment to attract more industry players, especially in the biomedical and plantation areas. The partnership established between UPM and JNU holds great promise for the advancement of global research.
